Pre registration for all schools is set for July 23-24.  Incoming families working on Ft. Knox may also enroll at the following schools with the specific dates and conditions as outlined.  Please note:  you must live off Ft. Knox to enroll children in any Hardin County School.  Parents are asked to bring the following items to complete the registration process:

 

High School:  Proof of residency (purchase or lease agreement or water or electric bill), actual birth certificate, an updated Kentucky immunization certificate, a copy of the student’s Social Security card and, if not a freshman, a transcript from the previous school attended.  It is helpful to the school to have an IEP for any special education students.

 

Middle School:  Actual birth certificate, a 6th grade Kentucky physical, an updated Kentucky immunization certificate and, if out-of-state, a Kentucky physical.

 

Elementary School:  Actual birth certificate, a Kentucky physical for new incoming students, student’s Social Security card, an updated Kentucky immunization certificate and kindergarten must have an eye exam prior to January 1, 2010.

 

Preschool:  Complete a preschool application along with verification of household income (W2 form, 1040 form, check stub or public assistance statement).  All children who apply for preschool will be scheduled for a screening.  Each family will be contacted by the Early Childhood Office to schedule the appointment. 

 

The Hardin County Preschool Program is a state-funded program designed to help preschool children who are at risk of beginning school behind their classmates.  The program is for the following children:

 

Children who are four-years-old on or before October 1, 2009 AND who qualify by state income guidelines OR three and four-year-old children who are experiencing developmental or speech delays, regardless of income.

 

Central Officeevery day through the summer, if parents are unable to make the schedules outlined below at the different schools, you can pre-register at the HCS Central Office, 65 W.A. Jenkins Rd.  The completed pre-registration forms will be sent to the schools and they will contact you for an appointment to complete the registration process.

 

Normal pre-registration dates for all schools are July 23 and 24 but schools encourage parents to register their children for school as early as possible.

 

High Schools

 

Central Hardin High School - The Guidance Office will be open every Wednesday, June 3-July 15, with the exception of July 1.  The office will be open every day beginning July 20.

 

John Hardin High School - The Guidance Office will be open for registration until June 5 and beginning Monday, July 20 from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  Someone will be available July 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and August 4.

 

North Hardin High School - The Guidance Office will be open for registration and questions/answers on Wednesdays during the summer from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, and from 1:00-3:00 pm, with the exception of Wednesday, July 8.

 

Middle Schools

 

Bluegrass Middle School Open for enrollment from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. starting July 23, and each week day thereafter until the start of school.

 

East Hardin Middle School - Students may register from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. any day during the summer with the exception of July 3.

 

J.T. Alton Middle School – all weekdays, please call in advance at 270-877-2135.

 

Radcliff Middle School - Call in advance at 270-351-1171.

 

West Hardin Middle School- Open for enrollment from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. starting July 22, and each week day thereafter until the start of school. 

 

Elementary Schools & Preschool

 

Creekside Elementary - available for registration the last two weeks of July from 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.  For days other than July 20 - 31 please call CES at 270-369-8460.

 

G.C. Burkhead Elementary – open July 6-22  from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

 

Heartland Elementary – Open Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Registration packets and a sign in sheet will be available outside the office in the event the office is closed. Leave your name and phone number if you need someone to contact you. Office will be closed June 29-July 8.  Please call (270) 769-8930 if you have questions.

 

Howevalley Elementary School - Open for registration July 20-31 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. There will also be registration packets and a sign in sheet on a table outside the office during the summer months.

 

Lakewood Elementary - Will be open 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for new student registration on the following dates:

Monday & Tuesday, July 6, 7

Monday & Tuesday, July 13, 14

Monday-Friday, July 20-24

Monday-Friday, July 27-30 

 

Lincoln Trail Elementary - Will be open every Monday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for new student registration.  For any other days call the school at 270-737-7227 or 270-766-8474 to set up a meeting.

 

Meadow View Elementary - Beginning Tuesday July 7 between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. parents can pick up new student registration packets.

 

New Highland Elementary - Will be open every Tuesday 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

 

Parkway Elementary – Any pre-registration prior to the July 23-24 district-wide dates should be completed at the HCS District Office.

 

Preschool – Currently can apply at all elementary schools or call 270-769-8911 or 270-769-8957 to request an application packet mailed to you or apply at the Central Office Early Childhood Office.

 

Rineyville Elementary – Offices are open for pre-registration on July 1-2, 6-9, 13-16, 20-23, 27-30 and August 3.  Those wishing to register are asked to call 270-737-7371 in advance other than the July 23 – 24 pre-registration dates.

 

Vine Grove Elementary – Please call 270-877-5410 or 270-877-0500 to make an appointment outside of the July 23-24 pre-registration dates.
