Prices go up Employment rates down On every American, a sneer or a frown On every heart, the burden of hope But do we try harder Or sit here and mope? Do we spend money Or save ‘till we’re dead? Ask others ‘how’? Or use our own head? Which would you choose: College or car? Stay close to home Or travel afar? How much is too much, When planning your life? When does hard work Turn to agonizing strife? Should you trust in the bank, So that you earn more? Or hide it away Like the days of before? How much should you invest In something that could fail? Should you always expect Another government bail? Who should we blame When the market’s corrupt? Is it pessimistic to worry That our plans may erupt? Opportunity cost Is never one or the other, But endless choices with each consequence As bad as the other! So what do we do In a recession like this? Just try to remember, Those moments of bliss? And envy the way things used to be? A time of low prices, good pay and simplicity? |
